EditOverview
WebGuide allows you to remotely view live and recorded TV programs and to remotely schedule and manage your recorded television programs, music, pictures and videos on your Media Center or Windows Vista PC. Install WebGuide on your Media Center PC and access it from any machine that has a web browser, including your cell phone or mobile device.
The trouble with some Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu for example, is that the media player that comes bundled by default isn't able to stream music, videos or live TV.
EditUbuntu
In ubuntu, what is needed it just to uninstall the default media plugin for Firefox (totem) and install the plugin for mplayer:
sudo aptitude remove totem-mozillasudo aptitude install mplayer-386sudo aptitude install mplayer-fontssudo aptitude install mozilla-mplayer- resume writer
Note that you might need to install other codecs to view other content (such as quicktime). You can download them from http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rel...050412.tar.bz2 then extract them to the folder
