Documentation

WebGuide supports 2 modes of watching TV: LAN based and streaming. These are represented in the WebGuide interface as the "Play Program" and "Stream Program" buttons.
  • In the "LAN based" mode, WebGuide uses a "Recorded TV" share on the Media Center computer to play the raw DVR-MS file in Windows Media Player.
  • The streaming mode is the most flexibile, but it also requires more CPU power and configuration.

Troubleshooting

  • The most common issue for streaming is an incompatible MPEG2 decoder. While most decoders work well when playing the raw DVR-MS file, certain decoders have problems when being used for streaming. WebGuide recommends using the Cyberlink PowerDVD and the AC3Filter decoders as the have proven to be the most stable.
  • Another common issue is port configuration. WebGuide requires a seperate video-port to be opened on your router for the streaming to work. Router Configuration
